Another lovely guy...the mind screams coastal beach house with navy..but I am dying to see it twisted african with blacks and oranges!

Please stay tuned!! there is so much more to come!

This fall we will be:

1. LAUNCHING THE WEBSTORE...very exciting!

2. Prepping and photographing all the great items, there will be tonnes of behind the scenes moments to share!

A Nook That Needed Just The Right Table

As some of you may know, I recently finished up a beautiful project for wonderful clients in Calgary.

The project was FULL of custom millwork, which is always especially fun for me. At times it is less than fun for my carpenters who have to "create the vision".

While working on this lovely home the homeowners asked if I could design a table for the Nook we were planning to create in the kitchen.

As most designers know creating furniture is a dream, especially for a project you have been working on for over a year (read most projects). This is the ideal way to ensure the item not only fits in size, but works perfectly in the space.

So without further ado..here are the photos of the piece I was lucky enough to create!

The concept photo above shows the table "in situ". The clock was just decorating for the drawing...at first...

Once approved (which happened to fast I am still convinced!) I whipped up some shop drawings so the carpenters could accurately understand my vision.

The clients opted for a walnut top rather than base, a great decision for longevity!

You may have noticed the light from the concept drawing was NOT just decorating, we had already selected it..and it really makes this family corner cheerful!

The banquets are a combination of 2 outdoor fabrics, the bold stripe makes a fantastic statement while the woven texture provides a solid base. If you want to hear more about how to successfully mix and match fabric see this post

And the wonderful clock, well, once it was in the concept drawing we all agreed we had to have it...and after a VERY long hunt..we found it!

*Video* Creation of a Bedroom Fabric & Wallpaper Scheme

Hi Everyone!

I shared so pictures of a proposed bedroom scheme on my FaceBook, which seemed to be well liked. so I though an explanation of how I pulled it together might be enjoyed.

I hope you like my little video! ( and ignore my "sick Heather" voice, lol )

We are getting there!!

So...

many of you know The Heather Company is destined to be more than just a design firm...blame it on sharing everything with a twin..but one success is just not enough for this girl!

Thus "The Heather Company" boutiques are getting closer to opening everyday. We may have our absolute dream location in Calgary, that I thought would never become available, but as it turns out..may just be available. Great News!!

Currently there are 3 bolts of amazing fabrics sitting in the UK...waiting for a 4th still being milled  before they head over the water ...

AND these 3 lovely bolts are leaving the USA tomorrow...GULP!!

These fabrics & the rest of the stunning collection will be available this fall (online) as a perfect ( and perfectly affordable!) Mix and Match collection of Bedding, Cushions and Curtain Panels.

We are diligently working away at the goal of opening the flagship store this spring!! (Double Gulp)

I would love you opinions!!!

A Little of what is happening at Uplands Rd

Hello all!

As promised a little look into my life as a designer...

This is the recent happenings at one of our Victoria BC projects!

The before photos..and yes..I did have my client try to buy those great bamboo chairs!

Up goes one lovely lawn sign ...

And let the hammers swing!

We are motivated by thoughts of the moody west coast, the palette will be storm colors, and nothing says west coast like vaulted ceilings...here in the master suite..

and a little more in the great room...looking forward to v-groove panelling on the ceiling...very coastal
Here is a peek of whats to come. Statement making paper in the cloak room.....

and a little "hello gorgeous" tile for the master bath!

Why Hello....

Hmmmm.... a first blog post is always a little akward no??

Well I'm not sure there will be any great revelations here, though I will try to avoid the redundancy seen so much in design blogs.

I am hoping to share random design musings as they come to me, hopefully useful information other designers and homeowners will benefit from.

I will also be sharing the progress of my newest venture, The Heather Company boutiques and updates on my current design projects...

hopefully...if I find time to update :)
