Playing a little mix and match

Hello All!

I must admit for sometime now I have felt a little like I was living with an imaginary friend, this line of home goods I dreamed up and was working to create...

Happily things are quickly starting to come out of production and I am building up quite the little inventory of goods!

Imaginary land is receding and I am coming to the realization that I have in fact started a new line of home goods!

WOW.

So on to what this post really is about...

When I dreamed up this line, I wanted to create something that was easily tailored to one's personal style, and while I believed it could be done, I am (with some relief) seeing that I have done it!!

So with out further ado...
I give you our lovely Batik Sand shown for 3 different room styles!

I am starting it off with what I am going to call modern girly. I love all the pinks, especially when paired with oranges. Here I toned things down with our large cushions in Solid Linen Eggshell. One of our great throws ties the colors from the Charlie Bloom Panel on to the sofa, and a small cushion in Batik Sand feels like an updated floral.

Most of you may hear me go on and on about Batik Sand used for a tribal feeling, and I think that end can be seen here. Of course Batiks take their root in tribal heritage, so it is an obvious direction. I love the idea of pairing Batik Sand with Labyrinth Fog. It all feels so masculine without being boring.
This look begs for reclaimed industrial furnishings and modern art.

Surprise! oh what a change of color palette can do! our wonderful Charlie, a large scale chevron with a wonderful hand painted quality, is seen again. These bright blues always feel sea side to me, and in this combination our Batik Sand is reminiscent of sand dollars. Perfect for anyone wanting to create the feeling of a seaside retreat.

So there you are, one of our lovely prints done 3 ways...
which begs the question...which is your fav??

PS- hopefully the burning question on your minds is " how do I get my hands on that!" well...we are working away a securing the flagship location in Calgary, and hoping to have the web store up in the coming weeks..so stay tuned!

A Heather Co Update..

First let me start by saying I  sincerely hope to keep this blog a little more up to date! October was a bit mental for we with trips to Calgary to view locations AND meet clients. A destination wedding for a close friend was thrown into the mix, so it was nearly impossible to keep up!

But I am happy to report....

The first of the finished products have arrived!! and are ready for their debut!

Paisley Spring
I love this pattern! so cheery and colorful  The drapery panels really add to a room, and the pattern seems to become more of a texture when used as a drapery panel...so pretty!!!!

Moorish Lemon with Paisley Spring
I am playing up the mix and match here, I love how these fabrics complement each other without being matchy matchy.

Moorish Lemon
I have a confession here..I HATE yellow! But that Moorish Lemon drapery panel was SO HARD to take down after the photo shoot. I really want a pair of these panels for my home.

More Mixing and Matching
This time with Moorish Lemon as the panels..which would you prefer??

Batik Sand
so simple, so coastal,  I really love Batik Sand for someone who is looking for  "a little something"

Impression Summer with Moorish Lemon

A Heather Co Update

What has been happening with the Boutiques you ask??

Well things are moving along quite nicley now with the arrival of the first of the fabric collection from our MADE IN THE USA mill!!

Oh just look at all that fabric..the possibilities!!!

Getting organized!

Paisley Spring
This may well be the prettiest fabric for a cottage I have ever seen!  Not one to belive a stunning fabric is only great in one place..this could also update a tired traditional space (visit Suzannekasler.com to see a pro do it!)

Almost pillows.....

Batik Sand
Another lovely guy...the mind screams coastal beach house with navy..but I am dying to see it twisted african with blacks and oranges!

Please stay tuned!! there is so much more to come!

This fall we will be:

1. LAUNCHING THE WEBSTORE...very exciting!

2. Prepping and photographing all the great items, there will be tonnes of behind the scenes moments to share!

3. I will also be showing off all the great ways the collection mixes and matches!! IN VIDEOS!  Fall in love with something...and make it uniquely you!! perfect combo no???

A Nook That Needed Just The Right Table

As some of you may know, I recently finished up a beautiful project for wonderful clients in Calgary.

The project was FULL of custom millwork, which is always especially fun for me. At times it is less than fun for my carpenters who have to "create the vision".

While working on this lovely home the homeowners asked if I could design a table for the Nook we were planning to create in the kitchen.

As most designers know creating furniture is a dream, especially for a project you have been working on for over a year (read most projects). This is the ideal way to ensure the item not only fits in size, but works perfectly in the space.

So without further ado..here are the photos of the piece I was lucky enough to create!

The concept photo above shows the table "in situ". The clock was just decorating for the drawing...at first...

Once approved (which happened to fast I am still convinced!) I whipped up some shop drawings so the carpenters could accurately understand my vision.

The clients opted for a walnut top rather than base, a great decision for longevity!

You may have noticed the light from the concept drawing was NOT just decorating, we had already selected it..and it really makes this family corner cheerful!

The banquets are a combination of 2 outdoor fabrics, the bold stripe makes a fantastic statement while the woven texture provides a solid base. If you want to hear more about how to successfully mix and match fabric see this post

And the wonderful clock, well, once it was in the concept drawing we all agreed we had to have it...and after a VERY long hunt..we found it!

Hi Everyone!

I shared so pictures of a proposed bedroom scheme on my FaceBook, which seemed to be well liked. so I though an explanation of how I pulled it together might be enjoyed.

I hope you like my little video! ( and ignore my "sick Heather" voice, lol )
